IN PRAISE OF SHADOWS
THE PERFORMANCE
Below Zero presents our upcoming performance “In Praise of Shadows” A coproduction with Stockholm City Theatre.
In Praise of Shadows is a tribute to the grandeur of Nordic nature as well as to the shadows within us. An ensemble of seven acrobats explores the loneliness that characterizes the Nordic people and the individual’s inability to carry a collective. Powerful acrobatics are interwoven with unexpected humor as the beauty of individual imperfections takes place in the spotlight.
With the raw power of circus, a stunning scenography and an original folk music score, the performance creates a landscape of glaciers, northern lights, mountains, and lakes. In Praise of Shadows emphasizes the aesthetic found in shadows and in that, which is not perfect, yet remarkably beautiful. A close dialogue between performers and the audience about Nordic melancholy, the euphoria of nature, and the essential importance of supporting one another.
